HEC-TV LIVE!

Our HEC-TV Live! program series is the only truly two-way interactive television broadcast in America. The series provides a crucial link between students in classrooms and families in homes throughout Missouri and the expertise and experience of arts and cultural organizations. At a time when schools cannot afford field trips, families can’t spend money to visit arts and cultural events, and arts groups are struggling unable to afford to maintain contact with the public, HEC-TV, along with MOREnet, provides this vital link.
HEC-TV Live! provides an interactive forum for students, teachers, and viewers to explore their world. Students are able to use videoconference technology to speak directly to panelists in a widearray of disciplines. Each program takes students live to artists, attorneys, archivists, or historians, in their own workspace be it a studio, rehearsal hall, theatre, library, museum, or office. Programs are sixty minutes in length and presented during regular school day hours. Learning opportunities are based on the discipline and expert featured in the program. Through the support of several granting agencies, and HEC-TV’s Board of Directors, we provide these educational opportunities free to all schools and viewers.
With four viewing options, we are able to extend our reach to all schools, no matter the range of technical equipment and expertise.

1. Interactive videoconference spaces for the programs are limited to four schools per show. These students have face-to-face interaction with our panel of experts
2. Unlimited view only videoconference space is also available

3. Viewing via the web is also unrestricted

4. Viewing on air in the St. Louis metropolitan area on HEC-TV, Charter Communications channel 989 and AT&T’s U-verse Channel 99.

Participating as a view only videoconference, web, or television school requires enrollment in order to receive the programs’ preparatory and evaluation materials. Students viewing in any of the final three methods may e-mail questions during the program and be recognized on air.

Our Inside the Artist's Studio series is funded in part by the Missouri Arts Council. This series brings artists right into the classroom for one on one discussions about style, inspiration, and technique with students. Click here for more information.

We also offer many programs in the humanities and sciences. Our Consitution Day program is one of the most popular. Click here for more information.
