Detox Your Domicile

Products we use every day contain potentially harmful ingredients like poisons, skin and eye irritants, and substances that can catch fire or even explode. The chemicals inside these products can cause dizziness, nausea, allergic reactions and even cancer. Hazardous household products are the third most common source of calls to the Missouri Regional Poison Control Center. These hazards are in products we commonly use every day – like bleach, oven cleaners, air fresheners, paints and automotive products. Not only do these items pose a threat to our health, the waste they leave behind threatens our environment.

In the Detox Your Domicile curriculum, we’ll give you the information you need to teach your students how to identify and safely handle these hazardous chemicals in their homes. Students will learn how to identify dangers by reading labels and understanding the warnings they contain. And they’ll learn how easy it is to make their own safer, alternative products.
