    Annie Get Your Gun: Opening Performance

    When feisty tomboy Annie Oakley enters Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show sharpshooting contest, she aims to win it and the affection of her competition, Frank Butler. Winning the contest and joining the show was easy. Getting Frank to see her as a woman he could marry could mean giving up her holster and gun for satin and lace. Irving Berlin’s memorable songs, including "There’s No Business Like Show Business" and "Anything You Can Do," have made this fun musical a perennial audience favorite.

    The evening begins with Mozart’s jubilant String Quartet in G Major, nicknamed "Spring,” and is followed by Henri Dutilleux’s challenging “Ainsi la nuit.” Robert Schumann’s String Quartet in A Major, Op. 41, No. 3 is the closer.

    7th Annual Cinco de Mayo Festival

    A celebration of the rich Hispanic culture within the Cherokee neighborhood and surrounding south St. Louis area. The festival will feature live music on three separate stages, an assortment of authenic Mexican refreshments and other ethnic food and drinks. There will also be live art demonstrations, street performers, and a People's Joy Parade at 1:11 p.m. The festival expands on the eastern corner of Cherokee Street and Iowa Street with the addition of a fourth stage.

    11th Annual Mary Meachum Freedom Crossing Celebration

    The Mary Meachum Freedom Crossing Celebration commemorates the 158th anniversary of the attempted escape by a small group of freedom seekers, including Mary Meachum, to cross the Mississippi River at St. Louis, to reach safety in Illinois. The Meachum site is the first nationally recognized Underground Railroad site in the state of Missouri. The program includes a fully costumed re-enactment at 3:00 p.m. of the original freedom crossing with the Mississippi River as the natural backdrop. To reach the event take Interstate 70 to Grand Avenue, go east on Grand toward the Mississippi River. Grand will curve left and becomes Hall Street. Continue on Hall Street ¼ mile to the next street (Prairie Avenue). Look for a Fire Department American flag and Riverfront Trail sign. Turn right to parking area.

    125th Annual Annie Malone May Day Parade and McDonald's™ May Day Blues Fest

    This St. Louis tradition began over a century ago in the historic African-American Greater Ville Neighborhood when thousands of St. Louisans would gather to honor Annie Malone, the founder of Poro College and the noted children's home that carries her name. The Annie Malone May Day Parade begins at 1:00 p.m. and starts at 20th along Market Street, heading east to Broadway. Immediately follwing the parade is the McDonald's May Day Blues Fest in Kiener Plaza.

    Performances are May 24- June 16 at Shakespeare Glen in Forest Park (excluded on Tuesdays). Performances are at 8 p.m., preview performances are held on May 22-23. The pre-show Festival activities will include a Green Show at 6:30 p.m. Admission is free. Open lawn seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Rental chairs are available for $10 and $7 each.

    Disney’s The Little Mermaid Jr.-Enjoy an evening of family friendly entertainment, with the Broadway musical hit, Disney’s The Little Mermaid Jr., as performed by LifeLight Theatre on the campus of Westminister Christian Academy.  Under the Sea parties take place either before or after select performances of Disney’s The Little Mermaid Jr. Guests enjoy story time with Ariel, delicious refreshments, fantastic decorations, a VIP tableside autograph/photo session with characters from Disney’s Little Mermaid, as well as a FREE pre-show reception on Friday with delicious food from over 20 participating restaurants.
