HEC-TV Goes Digital with Charter Communications on Channel 989

Looking for HEC-TV?

Have you been searching for your favorite HEC-TV programming on Charter Cable Channel 26? If so, you may have noticed that on June 6th, we moved!  Don’t panic! Now you can find us on Charter Cable’s Digital Channel 989 (or Channel 118.26 for digitally ready TV’s).  You will now see all of the innovative, exclusive programming HEC-TV has to offer the St. Louis community with digital imaging resulting in a better quality picture for your television.

Charter Communications is relocating all public affairs programming to one area. HEC-TV, along with STL-TV, Double Helix (KDHX), St. Louis Public Schools Education Channel, C-SPAN2, and the new C-SPAN3 have been assigned new channel numbers.  If you have Charter Cable* and your TV is digitally ready, simply tune into the Charter digital channel 118.26 to watch HEC-TV.
* Please note: this WILL NOT affect our viewers who we reach through AT&T U-verse where HEC-TV remains at Channel 99.  This change only affects Charter Cable subscribers in St. Louis City and County.

How do I get HEC-TV if my TV is not digital?

If your television is NOT a digital TV and you are not currently subscribing to the digital service on Charter, then don’t worry! We appreciate our viewers, and we want you to be able to make the switch to Channel 989 with us. We are working closely with Charter Communications to provide digital boxes for HEC-TV viewers who need them.

Charter Communications will provide you with a digital converter box and installation free of charge until August 2011.  At that time, the digital box will be added onto your regular cable bill for a fee of $5 per month or you can return it to Charter.  To get on the list to see if you are eligible to receive a FREE digital converter box please contact our Coordinator of Strategic Marketing and Partnerships, Allyson Pittman at (314) 531-4455 or allyson@hectv.org Monday through Friday 9 am to 5 pm.
