  • Impact: October 2011

    Impact hits the air packed full of interesting and ground breaking stories that could impact several aspects of your life. Everyone's doing their part to go "Green" and St. Louis County government is no exception. We look at all the things being done to help out the environment and possibly save you tax dollars down the road. We also discover a unknown organization right here in St. Louis taking on the enormous task of saving thousands of plants that keep you healthy from being wiped off the earth. And we've all heard about the health benefits of red wine, but what about white wine drinkers? Get ready to celebrate! A scientist and a businessman from our area may have the solution to a healthier white wine. Plus, a local organization is making huge strides in helping the visually impaired after more than a century of service. And finally, a group of young kids who are literally running the show. See how the Arch City Theater Troupe is using their talents to help stamp out a childhood illness.

  • State of the Arts: An Evening With David Halen and Friends Live, September 2011

    St. Louis Symphony concertmaster David Halen invites musical friends to help kick-off the second annual American Arts Experience-St. Louis.  This exciting multi-media event will also highlight events and organizations participating in the American Arts Experience-St. Louis festival.

  • Big Green Machine

    Winner of Business/Consumer-News Story/Program Feature Segment. This piece focuses on how a local business is spreading the word about a unique machine that can cut down on waste costs and help with a company's impact on the environment. This story was part of Impact: October 2010.

  • Words and Pictures

    Winner of Education/Schools-News Story/Program Feature Segment. The St. Louis suburb of Wellston has taken a lot of hits. Many outsiders see it as depressed, dangerous and crime-ridden. So in the fall of 2010, a local arts group offered Wellston high school students the chance to tell their side of the story. But about half-way through the project, they received devastating news about their school and their community - leading them to realize that if THEY didn't tell their story, no one would. This story was part of State of the Arts: December 2010.

    Winner of Arts/Entertainment-Program Feature Segment 2011. Blues performer Big George Brock talks about his life and about the true meaning of the blues. This story was part of State of the Arts March 2011.

  • A Living Legend: Steam Locomotive No. 844

    A vision from the past recently rumbled through towns in Missouri: Steam Locomotive No. 844. It was the last steam locomotive built for Union Pacific Railroad in 1944. The train's been out of regular service since 1959, but see how it's still having an awe-inspiring effect on people of all ages.

  • St. Louis Kid Grows Up

    Mid-America Emmy 2011 Awards Show Hosted by Former St. Louis Kids Club Member Nikki Boyer - She now hosts the highest rated show on the web, but you may remember her face from St. Louis Kids Club which aired in the early 90s in St. Louis.  This story, formatted like her show "Daytime in No Time," tracks Nikki Boyer's road to success and why she was selected to host the 2011 Mid-America Emmy awards (where HEC-TV picked up six Mid-America Emmys).

  • Happy Holidays

    From the I Love Jazz archives - captured while at Jazz at the Bistro during a performance in 2010, vocalist Jane Montheit performs this holiday classic, "Sleigh Ride" in a jazz/swing style. Along with Jane in this ensemble is husband Rick Montalbono on the Drums, Mike Kanan on the piano, and Neil Minor on bass.
