Compelling, brave, innovative, groundbreaking and compassionate! These words don't begin to describe the people and stories you will be introduced to on this edition of Impact. These folks truly believe in what they are doing and are willing to spend their lives, time and resources to making an impact on others. From medical breakthroughs in science to putting the most precious smile on a child's face, they each have their own special way of affecting all our lives.

  • SEGMENT DESCRIPTION: A local musician had it all until he was diagnosed with ALS which took his voice, his music and ultimately his life. He battled his disease bravely and vowed to do all he could to give hope to others by founding a collaborate research effort called Hope Happens. Today they are making amazing advances on all sorts of neurological diseases.
  • SEGMENT DESCRIPTION: One of St. Louis' best known juvenile judges sees young criminals come and go out of his courtroom everday. Instead of sentencing them to jail time just to see them back in front of his bench, he's found a new way to help these kids. Judge Jimmie Edwards is changing lives with the Innovations Concept Academy. Meet the man these troubled kids call their hero.
  • SEGMENT DESCRIPTION: A new grassroots effort is underway to help the poor and unemployed of our region find a skill and get back to work. The Better Family Life organization offers all they need from training to job placement. While this program may be new, helping families achieve their potential is nothing new for this long time St. Louis resource center.
  • SEGMENT DESCRIPTION: Special Spaces is making dreams come true for some of the area's sickest children. This group started out as an idea from a television show and now they are on a mission to make over as many bedrooms as they can for children who are suffering from a variety of life-threatening illnesses. The best part is that it's all a big surprise! See how they pull it off and how you can help.
