Winner of Education/Schools-News Story/Program Feature Segment. The St. Louis suburb of Wellston has taken a lot of hits. Many outsiders see it as depressed, dangerous and crime-ridden. So in the fall of 2010, a local arts group offered Wellston high school students the chance to tell their side of the story. But about half-way through the project, they received devastating news about their school and their community - leading them to realize that if THEY didn't tell their story, no one would. This story was part of State of the Arts: December 2010.
