Sensuality, Globalism, Ghosts, and a Controversial Violin Inhabit SLAM’s “A Century of Modern Japanese Prints”

“A Century of Japanese Prints” at the St. Louis Art Museum focuses on art of the 20th and 21st century. Works of art which tell stories of sensuality, cultural change, globalism, and darker histories fill the collection. This exhibit marks the first time the majority of the prints have been on view to the public at the museum and includes several new acquisitions. In contrast to last year’s “Conflicts of Interest: Art and War in Modern Japan” at SLAM, this offering focuses on non-military prints. “A Century of Japanese Prints” will run through January 28, 2018.
