Washington University and Missouri Botanical Garden Join Forces for The Madagascar Project

In a unique partnership, students from Washington University and scientists from the Missouri Botanical Garden are transforming lives in a remote village in Madagascar. Over the course of a semester, students create sustainable, replicable projects that address a need within the community. Students and professors travel to the village of Mahabo and work with residents and tribal leaders to implement their project ideas. Recent successful projects lessened childhood hunger, improved water sanitation and provided alternative, sustainable fuel sources. The projects help maintain the rich biodiversity in Madagascar as villagers rely less on clear cutting forests for subsistence agriculture.

Impact is living up to its name by highlighting people, companies, and organizations making the commitment to find innovative ways to improve the quality of life for others. These are the good news stories from our own community that will focus on those making a difference in someone's life, whether that's in their neighborhood, community or around the world. Tune in, it could have an impact on you!
