St. Louis’ Jewish Santa

For almost 50 years, one St. Louis woman has been leading a holiday toy drive that has grown from serving dozens of disadvantaged families, to hundreds. It has even expanded to give away toys in the summer. Paul Schankman shows us how it all started, and introduces us to the Santa Claus who founded Santa’s Helpers, and runs it even though she does not personally celebrate Christmas.

Paul Schankman uses his three decades of award-winning reporting experience in St. Louis to ferret out stories you won’t see anywhere else, celebrating the spirit of our city, its unique personalities and culture, all told in his distinctive style.
